Being a parent is hard. I know your shocked. Something I am realizing more and more is that being a step parent can be way harder.
I watch my wife…mother of my youngest son…and marvel at how well she handles him. She may disagree, but I am really amazed at her as a mother. [...] it sucks to have your baby sick. He’s been a great patient, but I know he’s tired. Hopefully we will find out today when he can go home. He is on the Senior team, which I guess is the team before you start playing middle school ball…I guess. Anyway, he is playing on a new team. For years, because of the two household thing, he has played on a team that was located about half way [...] I picked up my oldest today for our post thanksgiving day. usually I see him on thanksgiving, but this year it was bio mom’s weekend and our thanksgiving plans overlapped. I figured having him overnight would be a better plan hen trying to change everyone’s plans around. I picked him up and new instantly something [...] I dropped off Jack last week and was met by the step dad. ” Jack, can you go in? I need to talk to your dad.” My first thought… You can’t give her back! My second was that one of Jack’s family member had passed. it’s been one of those years. Then he said,” I [...] When my ex and I separated, I called the boy every day. 99 times outof 100 he didn’t want to talk on the phone. this had nothing to do with his feelings towards me, just his not wanting to talk on the phone. This continued for a year or so, and I started calling less. [...] Every morning…almost…Tony wakes up and starts playing in his room. He likes to crawl onto a chest we have in front of the window, squeeze between the blinds, and watch the outside world. Or he stacks his chairs up on his bed. All the while, he talks to himself, and sings. It’s extremely cute. Sarah [...] this is bound to get maudlin…you’ve been warned. Jack was sick over Christmas. He was only with me for about 5 hours. His temp was around 103 for some of that. Christmas night it peaked at 104. The reset of the weekend it hovered in the low 100′s. he had very few other symptoms…slight cough and [...] I guess sleep overs aren’t that big of a deal for most folks, but this weekend was Jack’s first at our house. It was kinda a big deal because of that. I had never met Jack’s friend and only spoke briefly to his mom on the phone. This is one of Jack’s best friends. They live 2 [...] I remember when my ex and I first separated. I lived for every moment I could steal away with my son. That first year, It would just be me and him. If he wanted to do it, and I could pull it off, we did it. Movies, picnic, video games, videos…I tried to make it happen. [...] |
